Acupuncture

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a system of healing which has been practiced in China and other Eastern countries for thousands of years.  It's focus is on improving the overall well being of the patient rather than the isolated treatment of specific symptoms.

According to traditional Chinese philosophy, our health is dependant on the body's motivating energy- known as qi- moving in a smooth and balanced way through a series of channels beneath the skin.

A practitioner can diagnose imbalances of the energy systems within the body which are the root cause of ill health.

How does it work?

Fine needles are inserted  into acupunctue points on the skin to balance disharmonies within the organs.

Moxa, a smouldering herb can be used to warm acupuncture points and encourage the body's energy to flow smoothly

Acupressure can also be applied with fingers and palms to stimulate the flow of qi.

How can acupuncture help?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) health is viewed as a complete state of wellbeing.  The principals of TCM can be applied in any detoxification programn to promote optimum health.

Acupuncture points can be stimulated to strengthen the digestion, support liver and kidneys and balance mental and emotional energy.

TCM treatment combines diet herbs and exercise aswel as acupuncture in a unique therapeutic program to bring the body and mind back to a state of optimum health.
